Miguel Delibes

All the spaniards knew him, a great writer which died this morning. You can find a lot of information about him on the net, he wrote so many books, I cannot tell you here. But it would be very interesting for you to try to read something by him: his language is perfect (from Valladolid, the purest castilian) His approach is not an optimistic one, but wise and deep.

A film based on one of his novels (Los Santos Inocentes) shows the cruel contrast between landlords and laborers in some areas of Spain some years ago; and is accurate and painful, extremely touching and shocking. Beautiful landscape and awesome performances, I'd earnestly recommend you to watch it.

You will not find sugar in his books, not at all. But they have a beautiful lucidity, apart from his language skills.
